Babyliss are one of the biggest players in the hair and beauty industry. The brief for this project asked for a slick and styled response, yet needed to be instructional and educational in nature. Up for the challenge, we developed a series of short promotional videos for their premium range of men’s grooming products. The films were then distributed on platforms such as Amazon, Argos and Walmart in the US.
Shooting in the studio meant we were able to craft and shape the light. Afterall, lighting is one of the most important tools you have to elevate your product and give a premium feel to your content. We achieved a dramatic look that fulfilled the brief and that we and the client loved. For hair and beauty videography it really is the defining characteristic that makes your film stand out from the crowd.
Babyliss needed quick and simple social media edits to introduce their range of premium styling products – enter ‘Style Hacks’. A series of quick and easy styling tip videos delivered in 30 seconds or less. The perfect answer to easy shareable content for platforms such as Instagram and Youtube.
We worked back in the studio again, this time with a new lighting setup. We moved away from the dramatic rugged look of the Babyliss Men shoot and went in a new direction. Harsh shadows eliminated in favour of a softer and more naturalistic look.
For us hair and beauty video production is one of our favourite genres to work in. We love that it’s often at the opposite end from our Built Environment work. It’s a real change in gear and a shift in visual aesthetics.
