Winchester University Case Study
Mass Concrete are one of the leading industrial manufacturers of concrete surfaces in the UK. Therefore it was no surprise that Winchester University entrusted them to create their unique build: a nine metre embossed wall. The project was a unique feat of engineering. That is to say, the manufacturing process required unorthodox measures. Therefore innovative thinking and solutions were a must. It would be easy to assume that something like concrete pouring is a slow and laborious task. You may even think that it could make for an uneventful manufacturing film – but you’d be wrong! Mass’ team worked at an extraordinarily quick rate, pouring nine panels in a matter of days. In addition to their on-the-ground work ethic, it’s their understanding and appreciation of how industrial video production can benefit them that makes them so rewarding to collaborate with.
Flying a drone inside the old aircraft hanger was a particular highlight for us. It was an unorthodox method of our own to best capture their energy and efforts. In addition several visits benefitted the creative process our end. Subsequently allowing us to mix between filming handheld and up close, as well as using time lapses to record the full manufacturing process. In short it was great to deliver a film that was both a reliable record as well as a celebration of their unique achievement.

Social media edit
Social media can sometimes feel like round-peg square-hole. Will our industrial process video really suit the aesthetics of this platform? Can our industry really compete in this arena? Is it worth our time? All questions are worth digging in to. However in our experience, more often than not, it boils down to how creative you are willing to be. Mass, are a prime example of a company who are forward thinking. They don’t doubt how interesting their work will be for others. They believe in what they do and they want to share it. Significantly, they trust us to creatively capture their projects for both new and current audiences.
