Battersea Power StationIndustrial Control
Matt Livey was granted rare access to the control room at Battersea Power Station just before its redevelopment - a room of original dials, panels and weathered surfaces frozen in time. Photographing the space became more than architectural documentation; it was an act of preservation, capturing a moment at the heart of London’s industrial past as the building prepared to turn a new page.
As one of the last photographers to record the control room in its untouched state, Matt’s images offer a quiet, intimate study of historic machinery and the atmospheres those objects hold. The series sits at the intersection of architectural photography and historic preservation, using light and composition to reveal how an industrial interior can tell the story of a city.
